School bag, satchel, backpack - ergonomic, lightweight, and individually designed
Books, notebooks, a full pencil case, a snack, and even sports gear - it all adds up and ultimately becomes a burden. As adults, we are often amazed at what elementary school students have to carry every day. The school bag, in which they carry everything they need, should therefore be individually adjustable for optimal load distribution. The height-adjustable, adjustable carrying system to relieve pressure on the spine is now considered a standard feature of a school bag. However, this comes with its own weight. For particularly slim children, our manufacturers forgo height adjustment in certain models – such as the cubo light from ergobag – and thus save up to a third of the weight of the backpack. After all, the weight of the school bag is also important for ergonomics. Our school bags weigh between 650 grams and 1.53 kilograms, making them significantly lighter than previous generations of school bags. We have compiled a lot more information about the weight of our bags and the question "How heavy should a school bag be?" in our blog. Simply click on the links below to read more. The lap belt remains an absolute must on school bags for girls and boys. It distributes the weight from the shoulders to the stable pelvic area and is therefore a central component of the ergonomic design.
Schoolbag models and their features and differences
Our schoolbags also differ fundamentally in their construction. Classic schoolbags with a stable shape and fixed interior compartments are the cubo and cubo light from ergobag. The ergobag pack is also often referred to as a school backpack: It is flexible, and its volume can be reduced using a drawstring. The compression brings the weight closer to the body, relieving pressure on the back. Our dimensionally stable satchels or schoolbags are generally a bit more manageable than the soft backpack versions. However, they usually also carry more weight – and they need to be packed properly: Heavy books always belong in the back compartment, close to the back.
All our schoolbags come in sets with matching accessories. In addition to the satchel, each set includes a gym bag or backpack, a fully-filled pencil case, and an additional pen case. The ergobag pack also always comes with a removable notebook holder to protect notebooks and other items from creases and dog-ears. The ergobag school bags for girls and boys also come with a five-piece set of Klettie (interchangeable Velcro stickers) that allow each bag to be personalized and easily adapted to changing interests and hobbies – ensuring it's sure to be a hit throughout elementary school.
For increased visibility and the best possible safety on the way to school, all our school bags are generously equipped with bright reflectors all around. Thanks to easy-to-use click fasteners, they can be easily opened and securely closed, even by children. In addition to the fit of the bag, it's primarily the patterns and designs that ultimately determine which model to choose.
