Especially for active travel: Flexibility is key! Our practical backpack travel bags adapt to the limited space in various modes of transport, such as buses or trains, and thanks to their additional carrying straps, they can also be comfortably carried on your back on rough terrain. As an innovative symbiosis of travel bag and backpack, they are the perfect companions for trips that take you off the beaten track.
Travel bag backpack - The best of a travel bag and backpack in one product
For a weekend trip or a long tour lasting several weeks, you'll find the perfect model for your travel plans among our versatile backpack travel bags. Our range includes handy models with a slim 30 liters of storage space as well as true giants with up to 90 liters of volume – and, of course, everything in between. For comfortable travel by plane, we recommend a model with a carry-on format. To do so, select "Carry-on Luggage (IATA Carry-on Luggage Dimensions)" in the Features filter. The main compartment of a backpack travel bag can be fully opened, making it easy and clear to fill. In addition to various smaller compartments inside and out, many of our backpack travel bags feature divided main compartments with separate sections for clothing or separate laundry compartments where you can cleverly organize your luggage.
On long walking distances without a backpack travel bag, the strain on your back is usually one-sided, which quickly puts a damper on any desire to travel. However, if you carry your travel bag as a backpack on two shoulders, you distribute the weight evenly and thus reduce the strain on your back. If the carrying straps are correctly adjusted to your height, you can easily carry even large luggage. Some models, such as the popular ORTLIEB Duffles or the Aviant Duffles from Deuter, have fixed backpack carrying straps as the only carrying option. Other models offer the backpack function as an additional option alongside short carrying handles or a long shoulder strap. The backpack straps are either completely removable, as with Thule's Chasm series, or are attached to one side of the bag body and disappear into a pocket when not in use. Some backpack travel bags also come with two maneuverable wheels, allowing them to be pulled like a trolley – for the ultimate in comfort and maximum flexibility while traveling.
